The last time that I talked to her was Thursday March 6th, around 12:30pm. She IM'd me, asking me if I could call her phone, because she couldn't find it. There was no answer - it went directly to voicemail.

She said that she suspected that Zach took it, and he'd been "acting crazy". They had been dating for awhile, and recently broke up, but were still friends. While we were talking, Zach wrote her back saying that he didn't take it and had no idea where it was.

She was going to fill me in more later about what was going on, but she had to go offline so she could work on some things. We never had a chance to talk again.

Katie was one of my dearest friends and she will be missed immensely. She had so much love inside of her-- I can't begin to understand why anyone would do this to her.

I know Zach. He basically stalked a close friend of mine a couple years ago. She'd just broken up with him after a four-year relationship. He did a lot of crazy things, including breaking out her car window, holding a gun to her head, and breaking into her apartment. She got a restraining order, but it didn't make much of a difference. I knew he was dangerous, but I didn't realize he would go this far. Clearly I was wrong.

I'm so sorry for everyone who just lost a friend as a result of his actions.

I knew Zach too. I went to high school with him. He was always a little strange, but after I had moved away for several years, I lost touch and never heard of his prior offenses. This comes as a complete surprise. I never thought of him as a murderer. I saw him just a few weeks ago at a party on Dicson Street. He seemed fine. Appearently he was not.

My condolences go out to all of the family and friends of this young girl. This is very sad.

My comment would be, if you knew someone is capable of "holding a gun to her head" why would you not naturally assume they would capable of murder? To me it is a logical conclusion, unless the things he did weren't as exaggerated as people seem to make them now. I did not personally know Zach but my close friend did. I was the one who told her about the homicide and who was, let's not forget, 'accused' of doing the deed. She was caught off guard. Since that day she has become increasingly depressed because that was clearly not the Zach she knew. And guys, please lets not forget that being a loner, strange, or dare I say unique does not make you a murder.
