Trophy's credibility on the line this season more than ever before

Abstract:
If Darren McFadden doesn't return home from New York with the Heisman Trophy, the award has lost all merit.

The trophy clearly reads, "Most Outstanding Player in College Football." No other six-set of words could describe McFadden, who shred LSU's defense to bits last Friday with 206 rushing yards, 34 more passing yards and four combined touchdowns as the Razorbacks won their first game over a top-ranked team in 26 years....

Tebow has better stats against tougher competition. He has more wins this season, last season, and has a national championship ring. Yet somehow McFadden is supposed to be better than him? How can people see somehthing that should be so obvious and get it so completely wrong. Tebow should be a no-brainer. I guess some people are just natural contrarians. But I honestly don't believe you have even watched Tebow play. I don't believe any sane person could watch Tebow play and account for almost 80% of his teams offense and some how think he's overrated or not deserving of the Heisman.

tebow didn't even start last year. mcfadden tied the single game rushing record in the sec with 321. also 206 against the then top ranked defense in the conference. tebow runs for tds at about the three yard mark. meyer is retarded to let a qb rush 22 times a game. if i was a florida running back, i would transfer. and tebow rushed for a total of negative 15 yds against georgia. what a great double threat. any fool can see that mcfadden is a much better athlete.

The Heisman isn't a career award, dimwit. It's awarded to the most outstanding player of the year. That is Tebow, without any doubt. Check out www.HE15MAN.net for the real story rather than your biased homer crap.

Thanks man, I wanted to let you know that I forwarded this to everyone I know. It's hilarious. You are a complete homer and have lost any all all touch with reality. Thanks for the laugh this morning. Keep it up!

McFadden received 8 of 15 (53%) of his TDs against Troy, Chattanooga, FIU, and North Texas (33% of the schedule).

Tebow received 20 of 51 (39.2%) of his TDs against Troy, WKU, FAU, and FSU (33% of the schedule).

But you claim that Tebow is the one who padded his stats when he played weak OOC teams?

So McFadden getting 8 of 15 (53%) of his TDs against Troy, Chattanooga, FIU, and North Texas (33% of his schedule ) isn't padding stats

But

Tebow getting 20 of 51 (39.2%) of his TDs against Troy, WKU, FAU, and FSU (33% of his schedule) does count as padding stats

Not to discount D-Mac performance this year, but his performance is exactly the reason why Tebow will and should win it this year. Last year D-Mac was a sophomore and by most accounts that is why he finished second in the Heisman race. This year it was his to lose and with him putting up "SLIGHTY" better stats than last year he ran in to what no voter thought would happen this year. He ran in to a guy that did something that has never been done EVER in the history of college football at ANY level. He also ran in to this same quarterback that has the highest passing efficiency rating EVER for a player who could win the Heisman trophy. He also ran in to a player that shattered a record that was held by RUNNING BACKS, to which D-Mac is a running back and will probably take over the NATIONAL RECORD for rushing touch downs against Michigan in his bowl game. But probably one of the main reasons why voters will vote Tebow as a Sophomore over D-Mac is because, Tebow's season is one of the most remarkable EVER in the history of college football. It would be all but impossible for him to exceed this season next year or any other year. It would be a crime not to recognize such a season. Just like it has always been a crime not to recognize outstanding freshman or sophomore's with the Heisman in the past. Unfortunately, what most thought could never happen to a Heisman hopeful happened to D-Mac, he ran in to a Sophomore that had a season no one will ever forget. When you have Chase Daniel's own schools broadcasters referring to his "ATTEMPTED" 20 yard touch down run as a "TEBOW" type of play, you already know he has cemented his place in college football lore. SO I submit to you that win a single wing set is ran or the spread offense is ran and a big back or QB runs though the middle knocking players out of his way, the announcers will refer to it as a TEBOW play not a DMAC play. It is already happening.

Sorry man, Tebow is the clear Heisman choice, although McFadden's a shoe-in for the award for "The Most Outstanding Player In College Football, Excluding The Month of October".

"McFadden didn't pad his stats against non-conference opponents, despite the general perception of those in the national media."

Really?

Troy -- 24 carries, 151 yards, 1 TD; 1-for-1, 42 yards, 1 TD
North Texas -- 19 carries, 138 yards, 2 TDs
Chattanooga -- 25 carries, 122 yards, 1 TD
Florida Int. -- 19 carries, 61 yards, 4 TDs

So, in those four games, he picked up 472 yards and 8 TDs, and passed for 42 yards and another TD. Pardon me if my math is rusty, but that's more than half of his rushing TDs for the season in those "quality" non-con games (UNT and FIU combined for a whopping two wins).

If you're going to cite stats to support your guy and bash another guy, at least make sure the stats support your point of view.

Here's a fair comparison of the rushing game of the two players: against shared SEC opponents (Auburn, Kentucky, LSU, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee) Tebow had 12 TD runs for a total of 56 yards (7, 5, 9, 6, 2, 9, 2, 5, 1, 3, 2, 5) while McFadden had five TD runs for a total of 234 yards (56, 80, 16, 73, 9).

Tebow had 511 attempts to pass or rush (317+194) on the season, McFadden had 315 (304+11, not counting receiving).

McFadden had a great year. He's had two consecutive years of absolutely outstanding play... and equally impressive statistics.

But clearly the Heisman voters have seen Tebow play. McFadden deserves attention and congratulations for what he's done... but not the Heisman.

Its just an award. Ok, its THE award. But Arkansas fans shouldn't feel snubbed. McFadden will be a multi-millionaire very soon, and rich boys don't exactly need sympathy.

Congrats Mr. Tebow.

I know it is over and my guy Timmy Tebow won, but this article was terrible. Not only did Tebow deserve the Heisman over McFadden, if he didn't win, it would of been robbery. I'm so glad that you didn't have a Heisman vote. You would of embarassed not only yourself, but the state of Arkansas.

No one in the HISTORY of the SEC, not McFadden, not Hershel Walker, not Emmitt Smith, not Bo Jackson, not even Shawn Alexander had ever rushed for even 20 touchdowns, and Timmy ran for 22 as a QB. I don't care how long the TDs he ran for were. Why couldn't those HOF caliber backs (excluding McFadden; not sure how he will do in the NFL yet) do it?

Also. 51 Total touchdowns is by far the most in the SEC. Even mentioning the QBs from Hawaii and Texas Tech is stupid. This is the SEC we play in. Not the WAC or Big 12. He had an historic year. And like it or not, McFadden, did not.

Thankfully the Heisman voters got it right.
