Domestic supplies of oil will not be able to meet the demand in the US. Period, end of story. Oil is used to power engines, make plastics, anything that has "mineral oil" as an ingredient, and fertilize corn fields. If the current estimations of how much oil is in the ground domectically are correct, then its not very likely that drilling in every possible area will achieve "oil independence."

If you want oil independence, then stop using products made from oil.
