Procrastination affects more than just students

Ah! Another term has commenced! If there were any doubt it was happening, then the servers crashing would be a good indication.

I wanted to write this to ask students to be more considerate to those who actually do real work on the UA servers. Because no one heeded the warning to print schedules early, the people who actually run this place can't do any work.

Next semester, if you think the only people a slow server affects is other students, please think again.

Tobacco ban is being ignored

I would like to open up a discussion about the blatant disregard for the "new" tobacco ban.

The first day I moved in, I had to politely remind a maintenance worker who was smoking that this is a tobacco-free campus. The day after that, Yocum Hall had a fire alarm (big surprise), and I saw a girl smoking in the midst of the crowd waiting to get back inside.

In the days following, I started to realize that some people just weren't going to follow the rules. True, the sheer amount of smoking seems to be reduced, but some people still cling to a childish mentality of "I know the university's policy about tobacco, but I don't care."

In all sincereness, I ask, Why do people continue to smoke on campus? Is it because there seems to be no consequence? Is a punishment the only way to conform to the policy of the university?

I've been a student here for 5 years and only a classified employee for a few months, so I should thank myself for the little money I do make at this institution. (Continued…)
