Reds. Yellows. Greens. Blues.
Wool. Tweed. Patent leather, too.
Flashy, fun coats are waiting for you.
OK, I know, I am horrible with the rhymes, but really, cute coats are waiting in storefront windows for winter to arrive and for us to start shopping.
Personally, I cannot wait for the chilly weather of fall and winter. It's the best time of year!
Why do I like cold weather so much?
Well… simply…I love coats! And I am anxious to adorn myself with all the adorable autumn outerwear. They are my favorite things to purchase each year. I can never add too many to my overflowing closet.
This year designers have out done themselves by creating brightly colored, lavish-looking coats so every girl can make a statement, no matter their budget.
Designers haven't shied away from color or prints and neither should you. The bolder the better - you can find one in every shade and style this season.
Big collars. Belted waists. Bubble pockets.
You'll find them with delicate and daring features, including fur (mostly rabbit or faux in our price ranges) collars and cuffs, colorful tweeds, shirred waists, button-free fronts, fanciful belts, floral brocade patterns, and 40's-inspired bows.
The cream of the crop? The Crayola-color dipped coats - they add a lot to a simple outfit with just a splash from the rainbow.
Always looking for the best buy, I have found designer-quality coats for any budget.
Expensive to affordable: At Nordstrom there are hundreds of coats (navigate to the Coat Shop link at Nordstrom.com) at a wide range of prices. A snazzy pea coat caught my eye because of its cobalt-blue color and it's reasonable cost. At $158, this Marvin Richards coat is a quality blend of Italian wool and cashmere that sits at the top of the hips. The downside is I don't like its inconvenient flap pockets. You never want to have to lift a flap to hide your hands from freezing temps.
Moving on, there are a handful of statement coats at Nordstrom worth checking out. One "Marc" by Marc Jacobs cropped coat in fuchsia caught my eye - so did the price tag - $348. It has voluminous sleeves that are pleated at the elbow and small, gold-button snaps.
