Tomlinson scared of Paul
This is in response to Amanda Tomlinson's recent letter revealing "shocking and abhorrent" facts about the positions of Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul. Among the "terrible" things she listed is his support of HR 300 - which would return the issue of abortion to the states, his desire "to abolish the UN and isolate America from other nations" and his condemnation of the Department of Education.
Abortion would not be as big a deal as it is if it had stayed with the states as it's supposed to. Tomlinson may want to reread Amendment X, which says all powers not reserved to the federal government and not prohibited to the states are reserved to the states, and also know that abortion is an invented "right," not a Constitutionally-granted right.
Concerning the UN, the largest anti-American organization in the world, it was bequeathed to us by traitor Alger Hiss, and being part of this organization and the NAFTA and CAFTA agreements serve to erode and ultimately destroy U.S. sovereignty. Regarding isolation, Mrs. Tomlinson might learn from former President Benjamin Harrison that "We Americans have no commission from God to police the world."
Interestingly, much hypocrisy is displayed when the anti-war front and others are eager to get politically involved with the Darfur genocide, exposing a lack of knowledge of the founders' warnings against entangling alliances and getting involved in foreign affairs that have no relevancy to the U.S. in any way.
Also, there is nothing shocking about Paul's denouncement of the Department of Education, as Republicans from Reagan onward have vowed to eliminate it from the government for its unconstitutional intrusion into local affairs. What are people afraid of, the Constitution actually being upheld?

Front-page photo distasteful
The Arkansas Traveler's Oct. 8 front-page photo of Adam Youngblood sporting a swastika so prominently on his vest seems in very poor taste to me. I find it highly disrespectful and not indicative of the spirit of this bike festival at all. Surely there were better subjects for the photo.
