Former Arkansas running backs coach Danny Nutt points something out from the sidelines during the Razorbacks' 34-15 win over Tennessee-Chattanooga. During Arkansas' game against Kentucky Sept. 22, Nutt was found in the coaches' box wearing a headset.

He stood on the sidelines during the game.

He wasn't wearing what the members of the coaching staff were, but he was there nevertheless.

He was pointing, talking with the other coaches, even making signals with his hands.

He can sign, you know.

But if Danny Nutt is not supposed to be a member of the coaching staff, why does it look like he is, well, coaching?

This might end up being the million-dollar question for the Razorbacks this season. It might also end up being the question that levies some hefty NCAA sanctions on the Razorback football team.

Nutt resigned in July with a recurring condition involving bleeding from the brain stem, and Tim Horton was brought in to replace him. But Nutt's suspicious behavior and seating arrangements during football games have the Razorbacks under the microscope.

During Arkansas' 42-29 loss to Kentucky earlier this season, ESPN cameras caught Nutt sitting in the coaches' box, wearing a coaches' headset.

If Nutt isn't a coach, why was he in the box, with a headset on, sitting conveniently behind Arkansas offensive coordinator David Lee?

Razorback head coach Houston Nutt said his younger brother was "just listening."

Yeah, right.

Apparently, the Southeastern Conference wasn't too sure about Nutt's statement, either. SEC commissioner Mike Slive told Arkansas that Danny Nutt cannot be in the coaches' box during football games.

So where does Danny Nutt end up next? Well, he was spotted standing on the sidelines during the Razorbacks' 34-15 win over Tennessee-Chattanooga in Little Rock.

Granted, there is nothing wrong with Nutt being on the sidelines during a game as long as he is not in the team bench area. But it was Nutt's behavior on the sidelines that cast an inauspicious shadow over the whole situation.

Throughout the game, Nutt appeared to be pointing out different things on the field and motioning to his older brother.

Granted, there are some very disconcerting trends going on here, but to say that Danny is stealing signals from the other team seems like a big conclusion to jump to. (Continued…)

I give you one thing that is you have a vivid imagination. Maybe Nutt was pointing out the way out of the stadium for some of his friends. Nutt maybe the only one that knows and he is not going to tell you. (Continued…)

This is just one more disturbing fact in the sordid tale that is Dale the Wonder Weasel and his Merry Band of followers.

Wish you would have commented on DNutt still drawing a HEFTY salary. That's what I want to know about. Why is the man still getting paid to do "nothing?"

Keep up the good work, Bart. (Continued…)

This issue has been addressed with the NCAA and the SEC Commissioner. You are beating a dead horse.

It is really sad when the only journalist in the state that is willing to tackle the "unmentionable" topics is from the Traveler. Keep up the great work Bart. (Continued…)

As many do, Mr. Pohlman is throwing as much crapola as he can against the wall, hoping that it sticks. There is enough factual info out there about HDN's questionable actions, without posing stupid theories about signal stealing. (Continued…)

Thank you, Bart, for 'scooping' the entire sports media of Arkansas. For sure, the rest of our so-called 'talent' is miserably unable to ask questions. (Continued…)
