Best-selling author and award-winning chef Anthony Bourdain will speak at the Fayetteville Public Library at 7:30 p.m. today.
Best know for his New York Times best-selling books including "Kitchen Confidential" and The Food Network's "A Cook's Tour: In Search of the Perfect Meal," Bourdain is on tour to promote his Travel Channel series "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations."
According to his publisher's Web site, Bloomsberry.com, Bourdain was born in New York City in 1956. He studied at Vassar College and graduated from the Culinary Institute of America before running kitchens at restaurants like New York City's Supper Club, One Fifth Avenue and Sullivan's. His work has appeared in the New York Times, The Times, The Observer, Scotland on Sunday, The Face, Limb by Limb, Black Book and the Independent. He is also a contributing authority for Food Arts magazine. He is currently the executive chef at Brasserie Les Halles and lives in Manhattan, N.Y.
Known for his no-holds-barred attitude and solid approach to food, he attracts both food aficionados and kitchen novices alike.
"Although I've never worked in a professional kitchen, as an amateur cook it was nice to find out that the disasters that happen in my kitchen happen in four-star kitchens," said Matt Kraft, third year law student. "I love watching 'No Reservations,' he's funny and comes across as a guy you'd like to sit down and have a beer with."
Despite a sold-out performance, free tickets will be available on a first come, first serve basis. "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations," airs on the Travel Channel at 8 p.m. Mondays.
