The Lady Razorback soccer team had an opportunity this weekend to make up some ground in the Southeastern Conference standings, but was unable to as the team battled injuries and lost to Kentucky Friday 2-1 and to Vanderbilt Sunday 2-0.

Vanderbilt jumped out to an early lead as it scored in the 19th minute as Lady'Back keeper Britni Williams was able to get a hand on the ball but was unable to get enough of it to redirect the ball from finding the net.

Vanderbilt would later add to their lead in the 24th minute of the match when Amy Wilcox's shot bounced off Williams and found the net.

"I thought in the first half we made some uncharacteristic mistakes in the back which allowed them to score," Arkansas coach Gordon Henderson said. "We looked emotionally and physically tired for the opening 45 minutes. In the second we showed more heart and desire but two crossbars and two missed one-on-ones with the keeper were a tough emotional pill to swallow. This team is resilient and they will bounce back."

Williams finished with 10 saves against Vanderbilt who had 23 shots and 12 were on goal. The Lady'Backs finished with 12 shots for the game, two of which were on goal.

In Friday night's contest against Kentucky, the Lady'Backs lost 2-1 as the Wildcats, who picked up their first SEC win of the season, scored on two penalty kick opportunities.

Kentucky was first on the scoreboard in the 22nd minute as they were awarded a penalty kick after the Lady'Backs were whistled for a foul inside the penalty box after a free kick had taken place.

It didn't take too much longer for the Lady'Backs to find the equalizer as Lindsay Patterson had a throw in that was redirected to the back of the net by Kathleen Paulsen in the 35th minute. Paulsen picked up her third goal while Patterson picked up her third assist of the season.

The goal was not enough for the Lady'Backs that night as they were whistled for another infraction inside the penalty box, and Kentucky took advantage of that opportunity in the 38th minute taking a 2-1 lead they would not relinquish.

"There was both positive and negative for me in this match," Henderson said. "I couldn't be more proud of this team. They played exquisite soccer at times but I am very disappointed due to the circumstances beyond our control which robbed these women of an opportunity to win the game."
