The ITA Central Regional in Tulsa, Okla., is where the Arkansas tennis team finds itself this weekend, looking to continue what has been a successful season up to this point.
In Day One qualifying action, a number of Hog netters played well. Brandon Joost won all of his matches and was joined in victory by Connor Smith, Taylor King, Christopher Nott and Bradwin Williams.
Junior Blake Strode is the Razorbacks' main attraction this weekend. He is seeded No. 2 in singles competition. He also partners with Colin Mascall in doubles, and together, they are the top-seeded team in the tournament.
Strode's first opponent Thursday was Drake's Konrad Kamizelich.
Meanwhile, Mascall, who also competes in singles, faced an in-state rival from Arkansas- Little Rock, Edson Abrao.
The two combined to face Southern Illinois' Breno Salvany and Hugo Vidal in doubles action.
A number of teams are participating in this regional.
They include Arkansas-Little Rock, Drake, Illinois St., Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St., Oral Roberts, Saint Louis, Southern Illinois, Tulsa and Wichita State.
Russian sophomore Dmitry Lebedev was set to face off Thursday against Wichita State's Scott McCormick. Christopher Nott, by virtue of his qualifying victories, battled Nebraska's Jamie Holmes.
Joost is paired against Ricardo Lau of Drake, Smith versus Tulsa's Ross Cunningham, King takes on Dmytro Petrov of Oklahoma State, and Williams rounded out the competition by dueling against Rain Roigas of Arkansas-Little Rock.
Thursday's matches consisted of the first two rounds of singles play, along with the first round of doubles play.
