When did becoming relatively successful result in a television show? Apparently now, when success bestows us we are candidates for a reality television show…case in point, "Life in the Fab Lane" starring Kimora Lee Simmons.
Some might be asking themselves, who exactly is Kimora Lee Simmons…and, well, I'm not sure either. She used to be married to Russell Simmons, a mogul who also happens to be Rev. Run's (from "Run's House") brother. If you're vaguely familiar with Run, then this should be making more sense.
Simmons (Kimora) has her own show on the E! Network, where her "life" is documented, and by documented I mean scripted and filmed much like every other reality television drama that is on network television. Simmons is seen on her television show doing a number of things: yelling, traveling, yelling, posing for ad campaigns for her clothing line, yelling and letting her kids run rampant.
To my surprise, "Fab Lane" was not at all what I had expected. Simmons isn't even what I expected. Rather than being a business executive, she acts more like a spoiled brat who has had everything handed to her on a silver platter. While this might not be the case and Simmons might have worked for everything she has, it is clear she takes it all for granted by her attitude alone.
Simmons and her show are absolutely ridiculous. One would think when acting as the CEO of any company, especially one as large as Baby Phat, they wouldn't have time to jet set between NYC and L.A. for photo shoots starring themselves. Not the case for Simmons, who seems to star in all of Baby Phat's advertising campaigns.
When Simmons isn't jet-setting, she and the rest of the staff at Baby Phat are doing yoga. One episode featured some kind of yoga artists who came in to the office to work with the entire group to help them relieve stress for the busy days ahead of them. While watching it's clear that half of the staff would rather be back in their office eating their McDonald's than doing yoga. One guy is apparently so moved he beings to cry, which is pure comedy. One would hope this guy isn't for real, but I am afraid he is. He also happens to be one of the employees Simmons seems especially hard on, in that he is constantly crying or on the verge of crying.

I agree with your article, as a professional women trying to make it in a man's world she does not represent me. I made it on my own, not by marrying someone who had the means and ideas for her to create her business empire. (Continued…)
