The warm weather is waning, candy wrappers from Halloween litter your apartment and the Holiday season is approaching. For many, this is the hardest time of year to stay in shape - it's much easier to curl up in a blanket and drink hot chocolate than to brave the cold weather to go for a run. And who wants to sweat on a treadmill when he could be baking Christmas cookies and taking advantage of the stocking-stuffer candy sales?

Worldfest
The Jones Center for Families in Springdale will host Worldfest from Monday, Nov. 12 to Saturday, Nov. 17. This "International Education Week" features many culturally diverse activities. Here are some highlights:
Nov. 13 - 6:00 p.m. photo class hosted by Bedford Camera and Video 7:00 p.m. ballroom dance class and street samba class
Nov. 14 -7:00 p.m. classical Spanish dance class, belly dance class, and closing ceremony of sacred Tibetan sand mandala
Nov. 15 - 7:00 p.m. ballet dance class
Nov. 16 - 7:00 p.m. hip hop dance and Tim Ernst presentation 8:00 p.m. photo contest winners announced
Nov. 17 - 1:00 p.m. Armenian dance 2:00 p.m. African dance 3:00 p.m. jazz dance 5:00 p.m. dance exhibition

The Jones Center also offers special interest programs such as broomball, competitive and recreational figure skating through the Ozark Figure Skating Club and hockey through the NWA Hockey Association and the Ozark Hockey League. For more details, visit www.jonesnet.org/recreation/iceArena/.
More Extreme
For those seeking more adventurous activities, Lewis and Clark will host an Urban Adventure Race on Nov. 10. The 2-4 hour course includes six to 10 miles of hiking and running, 15 to 20 miles of biking, rope work and mystery events. Registration is $75 per person until race day, and competitors can enter as a two-person team or as an individual.
